hi, i’m sade. welcome to my research page.

i am a Ph.D candidate and ford fellow at the princeton neuroscience institute. i formerly worked as a lab manager/research specialist at the duke center for cognitive neuroscience and also earned my B.S in neuroscience (psychology minor) from duke in 2018. i’ve had a broad range of research experiences involving optogenetics, TMS, fMRI, EEG, and related methods, with topics ranging from addiction to attention, neurobiology to neuroeconomics (and many things in between).

my master’s thesis work, conducted in the hasson lab at princeton, focused on the study of neurocinematics (the neuroscience of visual media) and exploring dynamic metrics of subjective emotional experience using short films and television.

i’m an ardent advocate for equity, diversity, and representation in science, and have written on and spoken about these topics across multiple platforms (see below). i am also a former member of the organizing committee for innovators in cognitive neuroscience, an inter-institutional initiative aimed at highlighting diverse and innovative perspectives in neuroscience.

i’ve collaborated with various science communication initiatives — such as the scicomm collective, skype-a-scientist, and her royal science — on programming for scientists and media professionals across career stages. i also co-produce a podcast, NEUROCINEMA, where we discuss the intersection of neuroscience and popular media.

i’ve used my creative background to do web design, videography, and content creation work for various organizations, institutions, and advocacy groups.

browse some of my work below (more soon to come), check out my general bio, or take a look at some of my other pastimes.

FUTURE OF NEUROSCIENCE: SADE ABIODUN

Future of Neuroscience” is a series of interviews with rising members of the field. A forward-looking complement to SfN’s “History of Neuroscience” autobiographies of distinguished researchers, interviewees reflect on their emerging careers and share thoughts on where they believe neuroscience is headed.
